Genuine Country Atmosphere
Venture only 30 minutes from Moe, Morwell or Traralgon to the beautiful Mountain Rivers region and find charming Aussie ambience in Rawson. With corrugated iron walls, Blackwood timber and rusted machinery hanging from the ceiling, Rawson Stockyard seems more like an outback shed than a restaurant.
With the ability to seat more than 130 people inside, and a further 50 or so under a marquee, it has the capacity to host a unique function with genuine character. For a night’s meal, Rawson Stockyard is a family-friendly venue with a cuisine the owners refer to as ‘Australian-style brasserie’. As for meal sizes, the Rawson Stockyard motto is, ‘if you leave here hungry … then that’s your fault’.
The more adventurous can order a ‘Stocky schnitzel’, where locally-sourced crumbed chicken breast is smeared with Vegemite, then layered with fresh avocado and topped with melted cheese. There are even options for gluten intolerant and vegetarians, such as their house – made Homestead Hotpot or Nasty Pasties.
Rawson Stockyard is a perfect place to stop for a cold one after a day outdoors enjoying the alpine beauty of Baw Baw National Park, and it is likely others will be doing the same. Come together with people from near and far and enjoy tasty food and the charm of Rawson Stockyard.
